Women at the coalface, every day

Dear friends,

Once a year, we celebrate International Women’s Day. While important, this celebration cannot be the only nod to courageous women fighting just causes worldwide, and yearlong.

At TRIAL International, we are convinced that women are at the forefront of change – day in, day out. In fact, we could not function without them. As a growing organization, we are proud to employ and empower many capable, confident female members at all levels of responsibility. Women make up 70% of TRIAL International’s staff, head 60% of our programs and 100% of our departments.

Unfortunately, International Women’s Day also invites us to reflect on the challenges ahead. Among the many injustices women still suffer, it would be impossible not to mention the most underreported and under-prosecuted of international crimes: sexual violence.

TRIAL has tirelessly drummed up awareness of this scourge. This year, we chose an iconic forum to carry the message: we are sponsoring the screening of

The Uncondemned at the International Film Festival on Human Rights. The film, retracing the fight of Rwandan women to see sexual violence punished, is a moving testimony of courage and tenacity. And it proves that together, we can achieve great change.
