Gabriella Citroni (PhD) is a Senior Legal Advisor. In addition to her position at TRIAL, she is a professor of International Human Rights Law at the University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy), a lecturer at the Geneva Academy of Humanitarian Law and Human Rights (Switzerland), and has been an invited professor at the University Pantheon-Assas in Paris (France).


Gabriella is the international legal advisor for the Latin American Federation of Associations of Relatives of Disappeared Detainees (FEDEFAM) and has worked as a consultant for the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances and for the Council of Europe. She was an appointed expert witness in cases of enforced disappearance before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. Gabriella also cooperates with a number of NGOs providing legal assistance to victims of gross human rights violations in different countries and she has written extensively on international human rights law.
