Russia Places TRIAL International on the “undesirable organisations” list
The Russian authorities have recently placed TRIAL International on their list of “undesirable organisations”. Under Russian law, this designation prohibits the activities of the organisations concerned on the territory of the Russian Federation and provides for criminal sanctions for certain forms of cooperation carried out within that jurisdiction. As of today, 335 organisations are currently considered “undesirable.”
This measure is part of a context of increased restrictions targeting independent civil society organisations active in the fields of accountability, justice, and human rights and reflects the growing challenges they face.
TRIAL International remains fully committed to its mandate and will continue its work in support of justice and the rights of victims of international crimes.
