TRIAL International addresses the UN Security Council 

Dear friends, 
 

Yesterday I had the immense privilege to brief the United Nations Security Council on the situation in Bosnia & Herzegovina. Civil society organizations seldom have access to this decision-making circle: it is a great recognition for TRIAL International of course, but most importantly it was a triumph for all the voiceless victims we have ever supported.

For the last 11 years, we have fought relentlessly for the rights of wartime survivors in Bosnia & Herzegovina. “TRIAL listened when nobody listened. You believed me when nobody believed me”, remembers sexual violence victim Semka Agic.

It was intimidating to speak before the Security Council yesterday, but I felt the greatest responsibility towards Semka and the other victims who have trusted us. They count on us to carry their voices. Now we count on the world leaders to pay heed.
