DRC and Swiss Corporate Responsibility – Let’s Take Action Together!
At the end of last year, we celebrated the tenth-year anniversary of our program in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Unfortunately, the current situation in the country where part of the eastern province has been taken over by a rebel group, threatens to not only plunges part of the population in another cycle of violence but also to significantly impede the progresses made towards justice and the rule of law. As of now, the consequences for TRIAL International’s activities in the medium and long term are very difficult to grasp. TRIAL International is monitoring the situation very closely and will do its best to continue its activities in the country and support the victims in one way or another. Your continued support will be invaluable as we adapt and respond to needs in a volatile and changing situation.
Furthermore, as a member of the Swiss Responsible Business Initiative, we actively support the popular initiative aimed at better regulating companies to ensure they are held accountable when they harm human rights or the environment. If you are a Swiss citizen, we encourage you to support this necessary initiative.
Finally, TRIAL International reinforces its commitment to corporate accountability in 2025 and launches a program dedicated to the fight against impunity for private military and security actors. These actors, often present in fragile or conflict zones, too often exploit these situations to maximize their economic interests, fueling violence and human rights and/or environmental violations. This program aims to support victims’ access to justice and advocate for a stronger legal framework.
Your support is key to continue our mission. Every action to advance justice matters!
Sincerely yours,
Caroline Ort
